Authorities were told by the sick mother that she had left her children with a babysitter and found them dead when she returned – all while knowing she was the one responsible
A twisted mum murdered her two children by leaving them in an oven.
Lamora Williams was 24 in October 2017 when the graphic killings took place in the state of Georgia, calling 911 to report the kids’ death to the police. Speaking to authorities at the time, she claimed that she had left her two sons in the care of a babysitter, and had found them dead when she got back.
But as an investigation was opened, it soon became clear to police that Lamora was less than innocent in her toddlers’ deaths. Evidence that was uncovered during their enquiries seemed to only confirm that she was in fact responsible for the deaths of two-year-old Ke’Younte Penn and one-year-old Ja’Karter Will.
Phone recordings of the 911 call were later released after Lamora was convicted of killing her children and handed a jail sentence for her crime. Giving graphic details of what she saw, Lamora lied to officers about how she “found” her babies.
“When I came in, the stove was laying on my son, on my youngest son’s head, and my other son was laid out on the floor with his brains laid out on the floor,” Lamora said. “I don’t know what to do; I just came home from work.”
According to the Mirror, the then-24-year-old pleaded with 911 operators to help her, asking if they could help her. “Like, can you please tell me, like, I don’t want to get locked up because this is not my fault,” she continued to insist, “I had just came home from work.”
Meanwhile, the children’s father Jameel Penn also called emergency services as he described “like a real horror movie”. He added that Lamora had sent him videos of the scene, which left him stunned and unable to believe that his darling sons had died.
Police, after carrying out investigations, would go on to arrest Lamora, explaining they believed that she had “knowingly and intentionally” killed her children by “placing them in an oven and turning it on”. Her mother, Brenda, admitted that Lamora had consistently struggled with mental health issues and pleaded with officers to put her on suicide watch where she was being held.
Lamora’s sister Tabitha Hollingsworth told local media that she believes the children could have been saved: “This was something we saw that could possibly happen. She’s had issues from a baby; issues my mom tried to address with the state of Georgia.”
After being taken to court and put on trial, Lamora Williams was found guilty on two counts of murder for her part in causing the deaths of Ke’Younte and Ja’Karter. She was given a life sentence, meaning that she will spend the remainder of her life behind bars.
This is not the only time that a parent has brutally murdered their own children. On Wednesday (July 30), a woman was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order after it was revealed she had murdered her two children, aged 11 and 7, in Stoke in 2023.
Veronique John was initially arrested by Staffordshire Police after she admitted to assaulting her husband earlier in the day. After she was let go, she then went on to kill her children in cold blood as she would “use the children against” her husband.
