Conspiracy theorists ‘prove’ China space station clip is fake because of one thing

Several astronauts were seen working on China’s Tiangong Space Station doing their tasks in zero gravity, but some viewers are now convinced the video is entirely fake

Conspiracy theorists are claiming a video from a Chinese space station is entirely fake.

Humans are starting to realise the true extent of space, with a recent study saying that products will be made in space in just 50 years time. Our pioneering technologies are also helping our understanding of the power of the universe, after a “wall of fire” shot from the sun was captured by a state of the art satellite.

But while the world continues with these fantastic advancements for technology and our understanding of the universe, some people remain unconvinced. Many conspiracy theorists continue to make bold claims about astronauts on the International Space Station not really being above the Earth.

Another space station has also emerged in recent years – China’s own Tiangong Space Station, where Chinese astronauts have been working to carry out vital research. In a recent clip uploaded to social media, some scientists aboard the station were seen doing everyday tasks, all while floating in zero gravity, the Sun reported.

However, some skeptics soon pointed out a major flaw in the video that appears to “prove” that the video is in fact fake. During the course of the video, a glass of water seen on the adjacent table appeared rooted to the ground, seemingly immune to the effects of zero gravity caused by being in space.

In the footage, the three astronauts are seen floating in the middle of the station, all while the glass of water appears full of water and seems completely still. This comes despite the environment they are in, which has led some theorists to wonder whether the clip is real.

Several skeptics have said water – when placed in zero gravity – should rise into spheres and gradually float around the room. Several conspiracists raced to social media to present their cases, urging those to call out the space station for being a phony.

One disgruntled user typed: “Call me crazy but if I was orbiting the Earth at 17,500mph in zero gravity surrounded by complex computers – I probably wouldn’t risk an unconcealed glass of water resting on the table.” A second viewer also pointed out: “The water wouldn’t stay in the glass; it would be floating.”

Despite the confusion – that left many people bewildered by the strange movements from the liquid, there is a very simple explanation for why the water stayed solely in the glass. Space historian Jordan Bimm told the Associated Press: “Water molecules like to stick to glass and also to other water molecules more than they like to disperse in the air.

“So if there is no external force, water remains in ‘clumps’ in the weightless environment, and in this case inside the glass.” However, despite the very rational explanation for the water’s behaviour, many believe it was fake and the video was filmed on Earth.

“They are not in zero gravity, it’s an act,” one user said. “They are walking on an uneven surface to create a slight floating effect by they are still grounded.”

Another unhappy viewer fumed: “Yep, it’s fake. They are not in zero gravity.” Whilst a third added: “At this stage I think they are doing it on purpose, to wake people up – you can’t tell them, you have to show them.”
