Declan Rice FUMES at Thomas Partey as Arsenal midfielder picks up late yellow card – ruling him out of PSG semi-final first leg

Declan Rice was left incensed at his team-mate Thomas Partey after the latter picked up a late yellow card in Arsenal‘s 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The Gunners cruised to a 5-1 thrashing on aggregate against Los Blancos, having built a commanding lead following their 3-0 win in the first leg of their quarter-final clash at the Emirates last week.

After PSG edged by Aston Villa on Tuesday, Mikel Arteta‘s side will face the French champions in the semi-finals, with the first leg set to be played two weeks from now on April 29.

But Partey will miss this game, having picked up his third yellow card before tallies are reset after the quarter-finals.

The Ghanaian midfielder had words for the referee after Madrid centre back Antonio Rudiger caught the back of Mikel Merino in an aerial challenge.

Partey was subsequently booked for dissent, which prompted Rice to grab him by the arm, gritting his teeth and pushing him in the back as he expressed his frustration.

Partey will now miss the first leg of Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final clash vs PSG

Partey has made 45 appearances for Arsenal this season and will be a significant absence 

Arsenal are also without Jorginho in midfield, who was absent tonight, and it is unknown whether he will be available for their first leg against PSG at the end of the month.

Partey has made 45 appearances for the Gunners this season and is a pivotal anchor in their midfield. 

His absence will be felt against Luis Enrique’s side, who are invincible after 28 games in Ligue 1.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the Champions League bracket, Barcelona will face Inter Milan in the final four, after sweeping Borussia Dortmund aside to win 5-3 on aggregate on Tuesday. 

Inter had similar success against their respective German giants, having knocked out Bayern Munich 4-3 after two legs following a 2-2 draw on Wednesday.
