Not trying to bring up a debate. Messi is the best at the moment but same could be said about Ronaldo statistically if you count his Champions League wins. He got 5 atm and thats more that Barçelona or most other clubs. Thing is Messis freekicks are much more of a individual performance.

This is one thing,i have never understood about football. why cant all the eleven players,stay in their goal when the freekick is closer to the box. Marcelos hidding behind the wall to stop freekick takers from kicking under the wall has changed and stopped alot of these freekick goals. i think they could change how they defend set peices.2 stand on the wall. the tallest defenders stand on each side of the goal. the remaining stand right infront of the GK.

When you look at how a player is performing you cant just look at stats, however free kicks are 95% stats with a small argument which is:
"Well this free kick was in a harder position to score from than this one"
