This is the chilling moment a chair seems to be moving on its own inside a 400-year-old hotel that is rumoured to be home to 13 ghosts.

The Ye Olde Kings in Chester has gained a reputation for its paranormal activity involving tormented souls of Civil War soldiers, Roman soldiers, young children and women who worked there when it was a brothel in the 17th century.

The hotel has been featured on paranormal TV programmes and attracted ghost-hunters to visit due to its abnormal activities recorded on cameras.

Paranormal enthusiast Harry Achilleos, who is now running a ghost tour in Chester, has installed 16 infrared cameras in the Grade II-listed Ye Olde Kings to monitor any eerie movements.

In one video taken side Room Six, which is said to be one of the supposedly haunted rooms in the hotel, a wooden chair appears to be rocking back and forth on its own.

The clip shows the furniture, which has a doll sitting on top, moving gently in the middle of the room where the floor is marked with a pentagram.

Danny Moss, who joined Harry to debunk the footage, told Cheshire Live: “It’s become such a huge attraction locally. It’s the ninth week of the cameras being installed now and the activity we have captured on camera has been phenomenal.

“We found the footage of the rocking chair moving at 3.28pm in the afternoon when there were no guests in the hotel. Harry got a notification on his phone, saying that there was movement in room six.

“He went back and told me and Brett and we even tried to debunk it but could not find an explanation for this happening as the chair is pretty heavy and would not be moved by a draft or people moving around it, for example.

“I’m quite a scientific person and I will always look for a rational explanation. When I can’t find one then that’s when I know it’s real.”

A man was dubbed a werewolf when he showed how he can extend to his thumb up to a whopping 5.5 inches long.

Jacob Pina, from Westport in Massachusetts, US, has gone viral since he posted videos of his “magical” thumb, which he often jokes it can “break and regrow on command”.

In one of the videos, he places his thumb under tap water and starts to stretch it out, letting it extend the bone to a few inches longer.

The oddly-looking thumb is longer than a mini sized water bottle and as long as a television remote controller.

Many viewers were shocked by the instant transformation and wondered if it was a filter trick.

Jacob replied to them, with a bit of humour: “It is a very good question, the simple answer here is genetics.

“Not to mention I’m part of E.T’s bloodline, just look at the resemblance, it’s all genetics, baby.

“It can break and regrow on command.”

The TikToker said there are a few advantages for having a five-inch thumb.

“I’ve never lost a thumb war, I’m never without a ride and it’s a great conversation starter,” he explained, adding that he realised his thumb was very long when he was just five years old.

“Every doctor that has checked on my thumb has said this to me – ‘Jacob, you’re just an alpha-male, alright? This is just a side effect of you being an alpha-male.”

Fans found it bizarre to see Jacob’s finger changing in size and refused to believe that it’s true.

One joked: “Reminds me of a horror movie monster.”

“You can go join X-Men and use it as your superpower now,” a second said and a third asked: “How did you do that? That looks painful.”

A conspiracy theorist has boldly claimed to have found “two giant prehistoric faces” on Mars based on the pictures taken from NASA’s rover.

Scott C Waring, who has gained a reputation for his wild beliefs, posted on his YouTube channel ET Data Base of his latest discovery.

He showed the three pictures snapped by rover Curiosity and claimed one of them showed what he called it as an “ancient site of an archaeological city”.

In the clip, Scott moves the cursor to help visualise a “pyramid” as he says: “Can you see the tip of the pyramid here? One side of the pyramid is here and the other side is buried.

“It’s a four-sided pyramid and it’s sunken over here.”

He then points to a bigger stone behind and claims it a face with helmet. He shows the “ears” on the both sides of the stone and says the smaller stones attached at front as “eyes and nose”.

“So it looks like a giant face, almost look like a Darth Vader to me,” he tells his followers.

The so-called truth-seeker then moves onto a second stone and says it bears resemblance of a face with a helmet as well.

He says: “That’s really weird to me. You see a helmet here. Eye, nose, mouth, chin down here.

“You see a face here and another one and a pyramid here. It doesn’t look like a coincidence to me.

“Perhaps I’m wrong, we’ll really never ever know what are the possibilities of life are there on Mars until we actually go there.

“But it does look like an ancient prehistoric face or a Neanderthal kind of stage of art.”

The photos were taken from a place called as the “Elsie Mountain” on Mars and the record showed it was taken on Sol 346 and 349.

It appears that Scott has put it a lot of thoughts when analysing the photos and viewers found his claims “stretching too far”.

One viewer wrote: “Not too sure but I see it a lil bit. You are the master of finding faces. Good job Scott.”

A second agreed: “There is definitely a helmet involved, a big purple one.”

But others think his claims too bizarre as one said: “No dude. I think you are trying to hard.”

Bizarre footage using Google Earth has emerged of an unidentified flying object hovering above a cemetery in Mexico.

Scott C Waring, known for his outlandish claims on his YouTube channel ET Data Base, and said it’s not like anything he had seen before.

As he zooms in on the address in the video, a cemetery in the city of San Luis Potosi, central Mexico can be seen.

Once moving the cursor up a copper-coloured object can be seen in the sky right above the cemetery.

Scott claims in the video: “When I back up, the UFO disappears. There are no birds, no known planes, no helicopters, there’s nothing else around here.

“There’s nothing that can explain what that thing was.”

“That doesn’t look like anything I’ve ever seen before,” he continues. “It looks like some copper-plated, or copper-coloured UFO.”

The conspiracy theorist suggests the common shape of a UFO would be in a disc form or a long rod-like projectile but this flying object reminded him something of a rocket.

Scott also attempted to dismiss the possibilities of the video being altered.

“This is taken by Google Earth, it’s not like you can edit it and you can tell it’s not a reflection,” he explains.

There could be a whole host of plausible explanations thought that explains the shape. It may simply be a lone bird in the sky or a glitch on Google Earth that often occurs between photos.

And fans were understandably split on what the object was. One said it was a balloon while another agreed and elaborated, saying: “It’s an advertisement balloon.”

A third believed the look of the UFO was similar to that of a hobby drone.

It comes after the conspiracist shared a clip of a white flashing object that he bizarrely hailed as an “alien ship” flying near NORAD military base in Colorado, the US.

The spherical-looking object hovered above the tree-line at a distance before disappearing behind the foliage of a tree.

An amateur stargazer has captured three mysterious red lights hovering over the night sky in New Jersey, the US.

Video shared by Reddit user “nooch1020” captures the unidentified flying objects floating above a car park behind the tree line.

One red light appears to be leading two others towards the right before they slowly move in a triangular formation.

They then disappear behind the tree foliage in dark.

“Nooch1020” and his girlfriend Brianna encountered the strange phenomenon outside their home in Winslow township, south New Jersey on May 31.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, he explained that Brianna is obsessed with looking at the stars and picking out which stars are planets and which ones are actual planets.

He said: “She noticed it while using the app to check out what stars are which. It was just flying across the air but like nothing she’d ever seen in person, just on the videos online.

“The triangle shape is pretty common we noticed, it didn’t break a perfect triangle though so it’s hard to believe it was lanterns.

“It seemed to just be gliding effortlessly through the sky.”

Over the past several months, similar videos of red lights moving in an apparent triangular formation have emerged across the US.

Texas has become a hotspot for sightings, while conspiracy theorists have also noticed them in Washington and Michigan.

The uploader said the latest sighting lasted about two minutes before it disappeared in the night sky.

Brianna also replied to one comment and described the lights as “amber-coloured”.

“They appeared to be much larger than the camera is picking up,” she added. “It looked to me like a triangle.”

The video has been upvoted hundreds of times on Reddit since being posted earlier this week.

One viewer said he had witnessed a similar sighting at the same location, saying: “It was pretty much directly over the road moving west toward Philly.

“It moved directly over me, going the exact opposite direction as me.”

A second viewer claimed he had seen the “craft” with his dad in the neighbouring town of Haddon.

Some believed it was military testing in the area and others guessed it could be Chinese lanterns.

“Triangles are just stealth military aircraft to me,” one suggested.

Another wrote: “Chinese lanterns tied by string in a V-formation? My friends and I tried this in the past and the results looked very similar. Especially on a clear, summer night with little wind/breeze.”

As well as Chinese lanterns being a possible explanation, drones have also been used to explain sightings of similar red lights in the past.

Conspiracy theorists have previously speculated the triangle objects could be a TR-3B spy plane.

The TR-3 Black Manta is the name of a surveillance plane of the United States Air Force, speculated to have been developed under a black project.

It is said to be a supersonic stealth spy plane with a triangular design.

Farmers in Argentina were left baffled when a sheep gave birth to a mutant lamb born with two heads and three ears.

The deformed lamb survived a short few days before it reportedly died in a university laboratory.

It was born at a farm in the Colonia La Alianza area of the municipality of Coronel Belisle, Rio Negro province of central Argentina.

A distressing video shows the lamb bleating weakly while struggling to stand up.

A woman wraps the mutant lamb with a plastic bag and picks it up for a closer look.

Farmer Juan Carlos Sarasola, who owns around 50 sheep, told local media: “It is usual to see two trotters coming out from the mother and the nose, but nothing was happening.

“We did not know what to do. We thought the offspring was dead, or that it was twins, so the work was more difficult.”

Juan asked for help from a worker who put his hands into the mother sheep’s womb to check for the animal’s condition.

The worker then told the owner the unborn lamb had two heads and three ears and Juan says: “I thought he was crazy.”

The men decided to put the mother sheep down in order to stop it suffering more and managed to complete the birth of the two-headed lamb.

They gave the newborn some milk from its mother and the farmer said: “It was taking the milk with the mouth of one head and the milk was going out through the nose of the other.”

The animal was placed by a heater on the first night believing it would be dead by the morning but they found it alive the following day.

Juan said: “We could hear it bleating without stopping so we fed it and gave it warmth.”

He said the lamb was unable to stand up as the two heads appeared too heavy for it but “it was fine”.

The farmer and his wife contacted professors from the Veterinary Hospital School of the University of Rio Negro who took in the animal for analysis.

It is unclear what caused the malformation and the lamb reportedly died after four days.

Daniel Robb, who lives in the city of Bryan, recorded a high-pitched shrieking on May 23 and said it sounded like something of a banshee, a female spirit in Irish mythology.

He shared the footage on YouTube and claimed the unexplained noise was coming from the sky.

He points at the cloud and says: “There’s a sound screaming, so freaking loud and it’s coming from up there.

“That’s coming from, like up in the sky, outside of my apartment. What is that?”

The unnerving howl happens every few minutes when the stormy weather lights up the sky.

Daniel added: “It was so loud it made the hairs on my arms and my neck stand tall.

“It filled the entire night sky! I’ve never heard anything like it before.”

Viewers were also shocked by the odd phenomenon as they tried to find out what it is.

“It likely is a banshee,” one agreed.

“This is super creepy, it’s like demons screaming in the sky,” a second one wrote.

Some of them took a comical guess on prehistoric creatures like pterodactyls being the cause of the sound while others claimed it’s something coming out of a biblical scene.

One viewer tried to debunk the mystery and said it sounded like a “pressure safety valve lifting”.

He added: “Like a steam valve that’s vented to the atmosphere. Is there a power plant nearby? Could have had an upset and its relieving pressure.”

The most likely explanation for the sight is that the sound is an example of atmospheric invasion.

The noise is caused by natural atmospheric processes, primarily lightning discharges in thunderstorms such as those seen in the video.

As the cloud-to-ground flashes, it releases a strong current that makes a roaring noise echoing in the sky.

A strange sight appeared in a New York state that saw the sky glowing in bright pink at night.

Video taken by Niagara resident, Brandi Maureen, shows a hue of purple-pink colour lighting up the night sky over a field as she films by the roadside on May 14.

She says: “The light looks like a dark purple but it’s pink. LIke it’s literally…pink.

“We just came from Rochester, New York, we just refuel in New York and the sky is literally pink in one particular area right here.

“No where else in the sky is this weird colour. We don’t know what the hell is going on.”

She pans the camera around to show the sky behind her then pans to back to the right.

“Look, dark…then wow! That colour!” she explains.

“It looks like there is a different colour at the bottom. It is weird!”

The clip was shared on to a conspiracy YouTube channel, known as “Mavi777”, as part of a compilation clip of UFO sightings.

Bizarrely, similar sightings happened in the past year as residents living in Wheatfield, which is also located in the Niagara county, witnessed the purple-pink light in the sky.

It is understood that commercial greenhouse operators used pink and purple LED lights to help their flowers and vegetation grow.

The purple and pink colour is said to be a closer match to the light plants use for photosynthesis.

The colour lighting can be adjusted due to the type of vegetables or flowers and the violet light were previously used in some greenhouses to grow medical hemp.

The underground bunker Adolf Hitler fled to after “surviving” World War 2 may have been found in Argentina, believers in an outlandish conspiracy have claimed in a documentary.

For years, conspiracy theorists have claimed the Nazi leader managed to escape from Berlin at the end of WW2. The outlandish theory was further fuelled in 2016 when the FBI released files of so-called “sightings” of Hitler, including some from Argentina.

But despite clear historical evidence of the evil dictator’s demise (a study of his teeth in 2018 concluded he had died in his bunker on this day in 1945), the bonkers conspiracy refuses to go away.

History Channel documentary Hunting Hitler delved into the theory earlier this year, with a team of experts setting on a mission to find Hitle.

And one episode appeared to get very close. Private investigator Steven Rambam led his team to a property in Charata, north Argentina, which used to be the home of a “prominent Nazi leader”.

They were led to the region by one of the files released by the FBI, written by an unnamed “informant” in November 1945. It read: “Hitler is in Argentina, he is living in a great underground establishment beneath a vast hacienda, 675 miles west from Florianopolis.”

After getting permission from the property owner to investigate the land, Steven’s partner Tim brought David Kelly, a sub-surface imaging specialist, to map what was beneath the surface.

David is seen hovering the heavy device, which is equipped with ground-penetrating technology, over the garden in a bid to pick up irregular signals.

As he moves closer to a pile of bricks, the machine detects a “busy disturbance” near a tree.

“We are surveying the property, and then we find one little blip that looks like the beginning of the entrance,” Steven says.

“And one foot later are five tonnes of bricks sitting there, covering whatever that little anomaly is.”

David decides to adjust the setting to allow him to scan the ground on top of the concrete block.

He says: “Now I’m starting to pick up activity, definitely there is of interest down there.”

The team then sends the data to their office in Los Angeles where criminologist Dr John Cencich and former CIA officer Bob Baer work on the images.

Dr Cencich reviewed the map and said: “What we see here is certain anomalies, we can see that the depths here are different.

“That depth tells me that something is buried at 8 to 10 feet below the surface of the ground.”

He is almost certain that a facility could have been located underground based on the pattern of the “disturbed soil”.

“Was this a place an underground facility could have been located? Yes.”

The Hitler “alive” conspiracy was finally disregarded by historical experts across the world after teeth found in the bunker matched X-rays taken of Hitler in 1944 and descriptions provided to the Soviets by Hitler’s dentist.

Philippe Charlier, lead author of the 2018 study in the European Journal of Internal Medicine, told AFP: “The teeth are authentic, there is no possible doubt. Our study proves that Hitler died in 1945.”

Thousands of fish have washed ashore on a Mexican beach, leaving residents stunned over the mystery of the mass death.

Footage captured at Acapulco beach in the south-western Mexican state of Guerrero shows a huge school of fish lying lifelessly on the sand.

Local residents including young children rush to see the bizarre scene while some try to scoop the fish up in their arms.

Some try to fill up their baskets and buckets with fish and others are seen dropping the fish onto their pickup truck.

It is believed that the fish belongs to a species of mackerels or a common jackfish.

According to reports, some residents believed the phenomenon was caused by the absence of people due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

But Sabas Arturo de la Rosa Camacho, who is in charge of maintaining the beaches in Acapulco Municipality, believed the mysterious appearance of the fish has nothing to do with coronavirus.

He also rejected claims that the phenomenon was caused by a lack of oxygen in the water.

The official believes it was caused by schools of jackfish approaching the shore to hunt for sardines, according to reports.

Locals welcomed the arrival of thousands of fish on the beach as fish traders and markets have been closed during the lockdown.

Several beaches in Acapulco hit the headlines last week when neon-blue bioluminescence was spotted in the rolling waves at night.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Mexico has registered 15,529 cases of Covid-19 and 1,434 related deaths.

A Reddit user was left terrified after his home cameras capture a ghost-like figure moving past inside his kitchen in the middle of the night.

The man shared his home security footage on Reddit and asked for opinions as he stressed that the footage was not fake.

The clip covers three areas inside his house – the kitchen, the living room and the corridor.

As he plays the footage, at about the fifth second, a black shadow can be seen moving quickly across in front of the fridge.

At the similar time, the camera at the hallway also reflects a subtle movement.

The homeowner stressed that he had the window shutters down and said he felt “very cold” especially when he walked towards the hallway.

Some viewers could not spot the movement due to the subtle movement captured on the black and white footage.

One said: “Have faith. It might just be some dumb insect obscuring the light from its source. Think calmly and act accordingly, you are in good hands.”

Another one added: “The only thing you can really say for sure is that something black was reflected in your fridge moving around. You need a camera facing the opposite way in the kitchen to see what it really is.”

The terrified man, however, rebutted and said it wass not an insect because it would be reflecting on other cameras if it was a bug.

To make things spookier, he said the cameras were already in the house before he moved in around February.

One viewer agreed with the man and said: “I like that you actually see it in both rooms at the same time. Kind of creepy. Anything else happening lately? Does the air feel heavy or just the opposite? Anything change with an emotional impact?”

Another one suggested he finds “a medium” to catch the ghost before it “gains strength”.

“Then a house blessing once you can open all the doors and windows. Good luck and be safe,” he added.

UFO enthusiasts have claimed they have spotted a cigar-shaped object on the SpaceX Starlink live feed.

SpaceX launched a new batch of 60 Starlink satellites into orbit in an accelerating campaign to deploy a globe-spanning network of internet relay satellites.

In last month’s launch, space enthusiasts claimed they noticed a mysterious UFO appearing near the rocket, Falcon 9, soon after the deployment of the satellites.

It raised discussions of conspiracy theories as SpaceX apparently cut the live feed seconds after the huge cigar-shaped object came into view.

Alien enthusiast David, who shared the footage on his YouTube channel UFOmania, pointed out what he believed was a mysterious object in a slow-motion clip and asked: “What is this?”

The clip shows the sixth launch of Starlink satellites, carried by Falcon 9 as it lifts off from Launch Pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, on March 19.

At about 15th minute, the satellites are separating away from the second stage of the rocket.

When the host passes to Michael Andrews, SpaceX’s supply chain supervisor, to conclude the launch, a bright, long cigar-shaped flying object can be seen approaching the rocket, it is claimed.

The UFO appears to become brighter and bigger as it hovers in space.

The live feed cuts as soon as Michael wraps up his speech.

Viewers were left stunned to see how close the rocket came to what they believe is a UFO.

One said: “It seems like that object whatever it is turned off its cloaking device allowing itself to be visible. Very interesting.”

Another one wrote: “Let’s hope the video doesn’t get deleted!”

“Thats a huge Cigar stick shaped Alien Craft or UFO. Spacex forgot to cut live public feed,” a third added.

But there is no evidence the object on the video is related to extraterrestrial beings.

One viewer it looks like “the first stage” of the rocket while a second one theorised: “It’s a weather balloon.”

A keen alien enthusiast claims to have found what appears to be a “stranded UFO” crashed off the coast in Antarctica from a Google Earth search.

The surprise discovery was shared onto Twitter with a brief caption stating the disc-shaped object was “found in Graham Land” of the Antarctic Peninsula.

As the video zooms in to the coastline, the imagery reveals a silver “flying saucer” on the water surface.

Conspiracy theorists have long believed Antarctica are hiding mysterious secrets with claims including a mountain bearing a similarity to face.

One Google Earth fanatic has found a “100ft” saucer hidden underneath a cliff in Iceland while another alien expert revealed a mysterious disc emerging from the melting snow in Antarctica.

The latest object could be explained away as a natural rock but he believed that the image looked like a disc in snow and ice.

The Graham Land discovery was made by Argentine researcher Marcelo Irazusta and published on his YouTube channel, Planeta Snakedos.

Mr Andrade explained that the image was taken from NASA and published on Google Earth.

He added: “It can be very deceptive with a block of ice, I do not discuss it, but from my point of view, [the UFO is] totally metallic, not ice.”

One viewer commented: “Thank you very much! It seems to be a round and metallic object, but it is strange that NASA has not censored it as it has done, with large parts of Antarctica.”

Another one wrote: “Antarctica you have a real history of hidden mystery giants, aliens, monster, demons and more.”

“Soon there will be more extraterrestrial landings, wait and see,” a third said.

A mysterious illuminating object dubbed as a “cloaked UFO ” was spotted by a conspiracy theorist who was watching the ISS live stream.

The footage, captured on Saturday April 18, shows a rectangular UFO coming into view on the left and appears to be approaching the International Space Station.

When it comes closer and clearer to the camera, the live feed is abruptly cut off and replaces with a red screen.

Seconds later, the feed comes back to NASA ‘s camera and the UFO disappears.

Purported alien expert Scott Waring, who is well-known for his truly outrageous claims, such as badgers and a woman being spotted on Mars, shared the clip on his YouTube channel.

The 52-year-old said: “It doesn’t look like a light reflection to me.

“They’re coming to the lighter side of the Earth from the space station. It looks like the light was beginning to reveal a cloaked UFO.”

As he narrates, the screen goes bright red.

“Ooh there it goes, the red screen. Yeah, it’s the legendary blue screen [but] updated,” he continued.

Scott believes the cloaked UFO was following the space station and it was caught on camera as it entered the lighter side of the Earth.

“It does look like solid, it does look like it’s moving also,” he added.

The alien expert previously claimed that he saw an “alien face” with eyes, a nose and lips above an ocean on Earth.

UFO enthusiasts were amazed by the video clip as one said: “I caught this on my channel 3 days ago.”

Another one wrote: “Amazing catch! This is a cylinder shaped huge one!

“I’ve seen one just like this on a very clear day three years ago over the Mediterranean Sea and watched it perplexed in awe.”

An incredible video of three apparent UFOs hovering over the moon has sent the conspiracy world into a frenzy, with one claiming it could be “one of the best videos ever”.

Jean-Michel Tenac shared the clip to his YouTube channel on April 3 where it has already garnered more than 500,000 views.

The amazingly-clear video appears to show three strange objects slowly moving over the surface of the moon.

To make it even stranger, they appear to be casting shadows on the lunar surface.

Among the thousands to have seen the video was YouTube conspiracy channel Disclose Screen.

In an exclusive chat with Daily Star Online, he admitted the video could be faked but said: “The only way to be 100% sure is if the operator of the channel provides us with a download link of the raw video file.

“The date these UFOs were captured corresponds with the phase of the moon at that time.

“If it is a fake it’s one of the best I have seen, I can’t see any flaws in the video myself although you do have the ‘experts’ in the comment section trying to point out flaws in the video but they are just pulling at straws.

“I’ve seen many UFO/moon videos and this one ranks one of the best. “

Countless other viewers were stunned by the objects apparent shadows on the moon and believed they could have only been caused by “massive ships”.

One suggested: “There may be satellites in space.”

Another wrote: “Forming shadows on the moon to disappearing into what I assume is Earth’s shadow once they’re no longer illuminated by sunlight.

“Judging by the shadows it seems they are over the moon’s surface about like a plane here, but they look to be enormous.”

But some pointed out an abrupt stop of “atmospheric distortion” as evidence of the bogus UFO encounter.

“Nicely done, it’s all real at the first 34 seconds until the atmospheric distortions are turned off,” one commented.

And a fourth said: “Looks very real to me, though I think the shadows on the moon are longer due to the angle of the sun.”

Bizarre footage of an orange mushroom-like cloud appearing over Portugal has been compared to a scene straight out of apocalyptic blockbuster Independence Day.

The incredible footage shows the cloud spanning a huge distance across a highway. Clips from another two angles show lightning under the cloud formation.

It was captured on March 20 and has gone viral on YouTube after being shared by conspiracy theorist Disclose Screen.

The YouTuber said the clip first appeared on Facebook with a caption: “Does anybody knows what’s going on?”

He said: “No information was given but I do get from the comments that the language is Portuguese.

“I’m not saying this is anything unnatural but this is one hell of a capture.”

He added that the cloud gave off a “fiery Independence Day” effect, saying: “I’m no Bible nut but as told, there will be signs in the skies.”

Viewers have since flocked to the comments section to voice their amazement at the clip.

Grahame Madge, a spokesman for the Met Office, has since explained to Daily Star Online that the cloud is known as a cumulonimbus cloud.

He said: “Currently there are unsettled conditions across parts of Iberia and North Africa.

“One of the features of this unsettled weather has been the development of thunderstorms, from cumulonimbus clouds.

“These towering giants can build until they reach the top of the troposphere – the part of the atmosphere containing our weather.”

The anvil shape was formed once the cloud failed to climb and fanned out, he said.

“Cumulonimbus clouds are a familiar feature in the skies above Europe, including the UK given the right conditions,” Grahame added.

“When they are backlit by the sun [as in this case], the details of their ominous and vast form can be best appreciated.”

Last week, a mesmerising roll cloud appeared on the shore at Rhode Island in the US.

Stunned viewers likened the sight to a scene from apocalyptic blockbuster The Day After Tomorrow.
